Tanner

Papers and manuscripts bequeathed to the Bodleian by Thomas Tanner (1674-1735).

Thomas Tanner was born in 1674 and matriculated at Queen's College, Oxford in 1689. In 1697 he became Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford; he was prebendary of Ely in 1713-1723, archdeacon of Norfolk in 1721, and canon of Christ Church from 1724. In 1732 he was made bishop of St. Asaph, and died in Oxford 14 Dec. 1735.

By his will most of his manuscripts passed to the Bodleian.
